Winemaker's Notes

#55 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2013

Elegant and complex aromas of bing cherries, cranberries, red currants, raspberries and strawberries, a combination of wild flowers and fresh forest berries that epitomize Oregon Pinot Noir. The juicy red fruit flavors open the attack then evolve in the mouth to darker fruit flavors with spice and mineral overtones. The wine shows ripe tannins and a succulent texture that give definition and lift to the surprisingly long finish. Although the 2010 A to Z Pinot Noir is drinking well now, it has the focus, balance and intensity to age and will become more complex over the next 5-10 years.

Critical Acclaim

"Sleek and tightly packed, with delicate layers of cherry, tobacco and cocoa flavors mingling against refined tannins, persisting pleasantly on the light-stepping finish. Drink now through 2017."

A very nice Pinot Noir with cherry, red currant and minerals gracing the palate. The tannins are ripe and this one has a great long finish. Served with a Dr.Pepper/Honey glazed ham. The seller for me was when my Mom took a sip and said "Oooh! I really like this wine."

Great for the price but it is important to note that this wine is NOT from the Willamette Valley as listed on the website.

I won't say it is the worse wine I've ever had, but I will go so far as to say it was the most over-rated and disappointing wine I've had in a long time. I made the mistake of buying 3 bottles based on WS and WE reviews. They clearly did not taste the wines that were bottled for public consumption!! I have no idea what I'm going to do with the other 2 bottles... I don't know if this wine even rates using to make a Sangria.

A weak Pinot with light Montmorency cherry flavors. Light cherry and mineral aromas. I've tried several Oregon Pinots and I must say I feel the California Pinots are superior.

Learn About Other Oregon

Like many other states, Oregon itself is an AVA of note. An Oregon wine can simply state Oregon as its place of origin, which typically means the grapes came from multiple smaller AVAs within the state. Beyond the main AVAs of Oregon, like Willamette Valley, Rogue and Umpqua, smaller regions are gaining ground. Some you may see on the label include: Columbia or Walla...

Learn About Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir(PEE-noh nwahr) Pinot Noir is a finicky grape. It only grows in the right climate, with the right soils and the right care. Perhaps because it is so difficult is why it is so loved. Pinot Noir hails from Burgundy, a region known for crafting the most collectible and sought-after wines from this varietal. Not only does Pinot reign in Burgundy, it is also...
