Somm Note

Winemaker Notes

Intensely red with violet tones, with earthy, forest floor and bittersweet chocolate aromas. Elegant and smooth with black cherry liqueur on the edges and a touch of vanilla from the oak. It is well-structured but graces the palate with soft, sweet tannins and good acidity on a closely-knit frame. Made with 100% Malbec.

Give this time in the glass and its aromas of red fruit develop complex notes of violets and leather. The flavors are powerful, with enough acidity and firm tannins to sustain it. It leaves a smooth sweetness in the finish, inviting another sip. This malbec comes from the highest elevations in Agrelo, rising to 3,600 feet, and is a serious candidate for the cellar.

Anoro, South America
Añoro (pronounced ‘ahn-your-o’) is a unique word with no direct translation into English. In Spanish it often refers to the act of reminiscing or dreaming of a special time in one’s past. For us, it means creating something that we once only dreamed of – the wines of Añoro.

Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
