Winemaker Notes

In the fading light of the great outdoors (we always seem to select this wine to take with us camping) the wine in the glass still appears to be very deep and there are some brick red hues in it now indicating some maturity since we last saw this wine. This wine has a nice nose, it is very pure, showing red berry fruits. The palate is full bodied and packed with flavour, the balance is excellent and the finish is long and soft. It was rated a winner by family members at the campsite.

Deep garnet with a bit of lingering purple, the 2004 Reserve Shiraz opens with some earthy meatiness to begin which gives way to plenty of fruit, still a bit primary, along with violets, menthol, licorice and chocolate notes. Full-bodied, rich, opulent, it has tons of youthful fruit in the mouth complemented by savory and spicy layers and structured by medium-firm, rounded tannins and vibrant acid. It finishes long. Drink it now to 2025+.

Noon, Australia
Noon Winery Image
The darling of the Australian small winery scene, Noon has a great following both in Australia and in particular the US. Drew Noon produces some unique wines packed with ripe red fruit and often high levels of alcohol. Drew Noon took over operating the family owned Noon winery after spending time as Winemaker at Cassegrain and other ventures in Victoria.

The Eclipse and Reserve shiraz can command high levels of capital increase and are definitely wines to hold on to (if you can get them).
