Winemaker Notes
"Full bright red. Pristine, floral aromas of ripe cassis, small red berries, black olive and dark plum, tightly woven with lightly dusty, cedary oak. Juicy, translucent small berry and dark cherry fruit smartly dressed in creamy oak and bound in fine-grained tannins, delivering a pliant, supple texture and hidden strength. Tobacco-ey merlot and a hint of tar add complexity to this outstanding cabernet.

James Suckling
This is showing very attractive savory notes of olives, iodine, morels, dried herbs and black and blue fruit. Silky yet firm with a broad tannin frame. Youthful and playful on the palate with a delicious finish. Softens at the end. 75% cabernet sauvignon and 25% merlot. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink now.

This is the flagship red from Cullen's Wilyabrup vineyards in Margaret River. A classic blend of Cabernet and Merlot, aged for 18 months in wood, it has huge, ripe fruit, along with elegance. Flavors of chocolate, mulberry and spices come together with ripe tannins. This wine definitely needs aging—give it five years at least.

A founding winery of Margaret River, Cullen was established in 1971 by pioneering winemakers Kevin and Diana Cullen. In redefining the style of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon produced in the 1970s, the fledgling estate caught the attention of the nation. Since then, an unrelenting commitment to quality, integrity and sustainability has positioned Cullen as one of Australia's greatest estates - and Margaret River as one of the nation's premier wine-producing regions. The mature, biodynamically farmed vineyard produces elegant, age-worthy wines that draw world-wide critical acclaim, including what is regarded by many as the country's definitive Bordeaux blend.
