Patrick Lesec Gigondas Les Blaches 2000

Gigondas Les Blaches gets its complexity and balance from the blend of terroirs: valley floor, mid-slope and high slope. It combines layers of intense ripe, sweet fruit with elegant, round, fine tannins. The 2000 vintage is delicious for current consumption. 85% Grenache, vines 30-70 years old. 15% Syrah, vines 20 years.

"ed-ruby. Intensely spicy aromas of blackberry and blueberry, lifted by a note of bay laurel. Very ripe, spicy, dense and pliant; quite primary but already shows an enticing perfumed note of violet pastille. Finishes with big, broad, fine tannins and excellent persistence. A very impressive Gigondas that needs a few years of additional bottle aging."
