01. Shipping Regulations - Where does Wine.com ship wine?

We ship our NON-WINE ITEMS within the 50 United States of America
We can ship all of our non-wine items, such as gift baskets, gourmet food and chocolate, gift certificates and accessories to all 50 states. We look forward to a day when all states open up to out-of-state retailers, so we can offer all states our full assortment of products. In the meantime, please make sure you use the state drop-down menu to select the state where you want the item delivered. If we can't ship wine to your selected state, our site will point you to some great non-wine items that we can ship to all 50 states!  We do not ship any items internationally and also cannot ship to US territories or APO/FPO addresses.

We ship WINE to MOST STATES. Use our STATE DROP DOWN list before you shop!
To determine if Wine.com is able to ship wine to the state you would like your order delivered, utilize the state drop down list that is at the top right side of every Wine.com web page. State laws on shipping wine are complex and there are some states that prohibit out-of-state retailers from shipping wine into their state.  If we can't ship wine to your selected state, when you enter that state into the drop down menu, our site will alert you to this and point you to some great non-wine items.

Local laws prevent us from shipping to certain zip codes that are considered "dry zip codes" in Alaska, Florida, Idaho and New Hampshire.  We do ship to most of the zip codes in these states, but our system will tell you if the zip code you enter is one that is excluded by law at the time the order is placed, after the shipping address and zip code is entered.

NEW YORK has additional regulations - NO WINE & FOOD IN THE SAME BOX!
New York regulations prohibit wine and food from being shipped in the same package. Gifts and Baskets ordered that include both food and wine will be sent in two separate packages. Your gift message will be included in both packages and your Order Confirmation will show two order numbers that will also be given to separate tracking numbers once they are shipped.

02. State Selection Process - Why must I select a state before shopping?

Please start shopping on Wine.com by first using the state drop-down menu to select the state where you want your items delivered.  Once you choose your desired delivery state, our site will adjust the selection we offer to ensure you are only shown items that we can legally ship to that state.

If you change your ship to state after you have any items in your shopping cart, your selection may change based on the new state entered.  Wine may not be available or the price and/or vintage may change.  To avoid this unfortunate experience, it is best practice to empty your cart and select your state before you shop!

03. Shipping Rates - What do you charge for shipping?

Shipping and handling rates will vary based on where a package is shipped, the number of bottles, and the size and weight of your order.  Rates will also change as expedited shipping methods are selected.

STANDARD rates (shown in the shopping cart - first page of checkout)
As you load items into your cart, the standard shipping rates will show on that first page of the shopping cart.  The amount will also adjust as you add, delete or change items and update your cart.

EXPEDITED options and rates (shown on the final review - last page of checkout)
Shipping options, rates and the available delivery dates will vary based on the products you are ordering and your shipping destination.  Available expedited shipping methods and the associated charges are presented to you at the final review, the last page in the checkout process.  At that time, you will be able to choose your preferred method and date before you place the order.

ALASKA or HAWAII rates (requires expedited methods and charges)
When shipping to Alaska or Hawaii, the shipping method required will default to an expedited method.  This requirement is determined by the destination zip code. Our shopping cart will indicate the required method and the total charge in the final review page of the cart, after you have entered the shipping address.

Wine Clubs are shipped differently than other Wine.com orders.  Prepaid clubs include the cost of shipping in the initial charge.  Ongoing Wine Clubs will charge the standard rate for shipping.  The delivery dates are based on each club set up and cannot be customized. Only standard shipping is available for Wine Clubs.  Wine Clubs are also excluded from the Steward-Ship Program.

04. Selecting Delivery Dates - What are my delivery options?

SELECTING A DELIVERY DATE (done on the final review page of checkout)
We offer date-specific deliveries for most items purchased. A calendar with all available delivery dates will be presented to you for your selection on the final review page of the shopping cart.  The dates we offer for delivery will change based on what you are ordering and where you are shipping it.  You can select a delivery date up to six months out by clicking on the calendar arrow to move forward months.

Only Standard Shipping is available for our Wine Clubs.  Initial Wine Club shipments will ship within 5 business days of placing the order.

05. WEATHER HOLDS - Why is my order on hold and what is the cost to ship now?

Weather conditions (whether it is extreme heat or freezing temperatures) across the US certainly create challenges for shipping wine. When temperatures while in transit could adversely affect your wine order, Wine.com will suggest several weather safe options for you.  These options are presented in the final stage of the shopping cart before you place your order.

Primarily, in extreme cold or heat, we recommend the following options:

Choose Next Day Air and a business address for fast delivery and ensured signature.
Shipping Next day Air will reduce the time in transit.  Select this shipping option and also use the shipping calendar to select a date when someone will be there to sign for the package on the first attempt.  Business addresses are also a good option in these cases since there is someone there to sign for deliveries.  Next Day Air does have an increased cost, but this is the best way to get it there quickly and on a pre-planned date.

Choose a future delivery date for a time with usually mild temperatures.
Our calendar will allow you to choose a date up to six months from now.  In these cases, wine.com will store your wine in our temperature controlled warehouse and will ship it to arrive on the future date you select. Although none of us can control the weather, a guess at a good future date may the option you want to go.

Choose the Hold Until Safe and we will ship it once weather conditions are suitable
In this case, we will watch the weather closely and will remove the hold and ship your order as soon as conditions permit. The release dates will vary, and because there is no specified date for delivery, the warehouses will ship it as weather permits. If the Hold Until Safe option is released and your order is shipped, you will receive a shipping notice with the tracking number link.
