    02. Foreign Credit Card Address - Can I use a credit card with a foreign address?

    CREATING YOUR WINE.COM ACCOUNT:
When creating a new Wine.com account, there is an initial ZIP code field that is U.S.-specific. If your billing address is outside the U.S., please use your recipient's ZIP code instead of your own postal code when creating your account.

    ENTERING YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION:
In the Billing Information screen of the Shopping Cart, select your country from the pull-down menu before entering any other information. Doing so will reload the page, replacing "state" and "zip code" with more appropriate fields for your address. Having the correct fields should smooth the approval process.

    03. Credit Card Declines - What do I do if the cart is not accepting my billing information?

If your credit card is not accepted and you are bounced back to the Billing Information screen of the shopping cart, you should see a message in red at the top of the screen telling you what information may be missing or is incorrect or if the card has been declined.

Generally these errors are related to:
    - One or more fields were left blank in the Billing Information screen
    - One or more fields contained invalid data in the Billing Information screen
    - The information provided may not match what your bank has on record
    - The bank has declined the card for an undisclosed reason.

You may want to double check all fields to ensure the data is complete and accurate. The billing address must match what your card issuer has on file (where you receive your billing statements).  If you feel you have entered all your card information correctly, you may want to contact the issuer of the card to report the problem you experienced.

If a card has been declined, you may want to try a different credit card.  If you'd like assistance completing your transaction with another credit card, please feel free to contact us at 800-592-5870.

    04. Multiple Charges - Why is my online statement showing more than one charge?

The charge that will ultimately be applied to your credit card should match the total on your Invoice Confirmation email from Wine.com.  Wine.com does not finalize any charges until the order in question is shipped from our warehouse.

At the time you place your order, we do authorize your credit card and verify available funds.  If you see what looks like more than one pending charge on your credit card record within the first 48 hours after your order, it is almost certainly just more than one approval, or authorization for the purchase.  This occurs when your credit card company confirms more than once that you have enough credit for your Wine.com transaction.

Ultimately there will be only one actual charge (finalized with your credit card company as a settlement when the order is shipped), and any extra auhtorizations for the funds will drop from your account. You can confirm this with your credit card company.

If your credit card company does indeed confirm more than one complete and finished charge ("settlements" in credit card company lingo), or if you have any other question about billing discrepancies, please visit our Customer Care area and submit your issue using the "Ask a Question" form provided.

    05. Credit Card Updates - How do I update a credit card?

You can update your Wine.com credit card information by logging into "Your Account" from the top of any Wine.com page. Under the "Your Account Info" menu on the left side of the page, click the link for the item you wish to change or update.

UPDATING EXISTING ORDERS OR WINE CLUBS:
If you need to update a credit card on an order you have already placed, or a card you are using for an ongoing, montly wine club, you will need to contact us directly.  We will need to access the order or wine club in question and update the card for you.

To contact us for your credit card updates, please call us at 800-592-5870. For security reasons, please do not provide credit card numbers as text in a message or email.

    06. Gift Certificates - How do I redeem a wine.com gift certificate?

To redeem a wine.com gift certificate on a Wine.com order, once you have filled your shopping cart and are ready to place the order, you will need to enter the gift certificate code in the Billing information section of the shopping cart.

In the Billing Information screen, there is box located to the right with a space for you to enter and redeem your gift certificate code.  To redeem a Wine.com gift certificate, enter the code in the field provided and click on the redeem button for your code to be verified and applied to your account.

When your code is verified, the gift certificate box will update with the verified value amount of the gift certificate.  You may redeem up to two gift certificate codes per order.

Please note that you will still need to enter your credit card information for security and age verification purposes, even if your gift certificate covers the full amount of your order.  The card acts as an additional form of identification. Due to the nature of alcohol sales, we must have traceable records of wine purchases, in the event of an audit by state Alcohol and Beverages Commissions. This precaution is part of Wine.com's commitment to ensuring we don't sell alcohol to minors.

As long as the value of your gift certificate exceeds the price of the product you are purchasing, no charge will be made to your credit card.  If your purchase does exceed the value of your certificate, any remaining amount will be charged to the credit card you provide.

    08. Taxes - Why do you charge tax on some orders?

Wine.com is obligated to collect any state alcohol taxes as follows:

    - When shipping to states where we have direct shipment certificates.
    - In states where we have a warehouse from which we make in-state shipments.
    - In states where excise taxes are required.

If your Wine.com order includes tax, your delivery state falls under at least one of these categories.

A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.
    Screw Cap wine
    Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.
    Green wine
    Green Wines
Wines that use sustainable, organic and/or biodynamic practices in the vineyard and/or winemaking process. We rely on a number of U.S. and International certifications to qualify wines "green."

These wines will improve from additional bottle age, when properly stored, and may show the greatest potential to increase in value.

    Boutique Wines
These wines are made in limited quantities and are typically produced from single vineyard sources or made by small, artisanal wineries. While the winery may produce larger quantities, we limit wines with this designation to a 1,000 case production.

    About Professional Ratings

These wine ratings are based on a 100-point quality scale, and are selected by each publication's unique criteria. Some wine ratings are expressed as ranges. When this occurs we will list the highest score in the range and note the full range within the tasting note.

While ratings may influence your decision, the ultimate judgment is your palate.
