The 2007 Calcu is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Carmenère,15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. Winemakers RicardoRivadeneira and Alejandro Jofre artfully blend the mineral notes andfresh acidity of grapes from the Andes foothills with the ripe tanninsand red fruit from the center of the valley, and add richness and bodyfrom grapes grown closer to the Pacific Ocean. This vintage has around and structured mouth with soft, sweet and elegant tannins. Thewine is fresh and balanced, with great volume from the Petit Verdot.

In the local Mapuche language, Calcumeans "healing doctor" or "magician." Andindeed, winemakers Alejandro Jofre andRicardo Rivadeniera have created a magical"Super Chilean" blend that expressesthe diversity of the Colchagua Valley.
