One of life's most surprising pleasures is to taste the difference between an excellent coffee and an extraordinary one. As with fine wine, the profound complexity of coffee involves over a thousand flavor constituents that define its aroma, character and finish.
Jose David Garrido is a passionate farmer committed to the highest quality on his family estate. The farm, established in 1997 and named after the family matriarch, has proven itself by being a top contender in the Best of Panama competition held annually amongst the coffee farmers in Panama.
The terroir for this hand-selected coffee is known as "Alto Quiel" located at approximately 5100 feet (1533 meters) above sea level, with rich black volcanic soil. The climatic conditions and caturra coffee trees sculpt a unique and stunning character to its landscape.
Unlike traditional farms, Mama Cata’s lots are defined using GPS coordinates to micro manage each lot on the estate. The advanced process used to cultivate these specialty Arabica coffee beans on the Mama Cata Estate relies on the technology, diligence and commitment of the entire staff. We are grateful to Jose David Garrido for combining his passion and technological innovation to bring about the extraordinary cultivation of this superlative coffee.
