The Doyo cooperative is located near the city of Jimma and employs roughly 430 active farmers and over a thousand members who contribute on an intermittent basis. The average farm size of planted coffee is quite small - less than half a hectare or 1.25 acres. This is typical for Ethiopia but miniscule when compared to farms in almost any other country or growing region. Despite their small size, or perhaps because of it, they produce very sumptuous coffees.
The aroma carries the scent of tangerines, chocolate, and lemons. The flavors include a variety of fruit, juniper, and plantains with a peppery endnote. It's very sweet and juicy with a smooth body.
