The nose is chock-full of fresh blackberries, cherries and dark chocolate sprinkled with spices. The palate is fresh and juicy, ripe red fruits mix with plums, blackcurrant, flowers and a twist of black pepper. The tannins are fine with d'Arenberg's trademark earthiness helping keep this easy going wine in check.
International Wine CellarOpaque purple. High-pitched aromas of boysenberry, blueberry and violet. A juicy, velvet-textured fruit bomb, with jammy dark berry flavors enlivened by a hint of white pepper. Not the last word in complexity but offers a load of expressive black and blue fruit, finishing with ripe, smooth tannins and good length.
Australian Wine CompanionMedium red-purple; there has been no attempt to make a wine of finesse or elegance; rather, it has been a successful attempt to extract every last drop of vinous blood and (to a lesser degree) tannins. Excellent bbq red, well priced.
