red wine style:
Light & Fruity Smooth & Supple Earthy & Spicy Big & Bold
winemaker's notes:

A dense nose of cassis and mulberries with coffee and dark chocolate weaving through a backdrop of fine oak. More elegant than previous vintages, the palate offers freshness while still delivering concentration and complexity. Youthful flavors of cassis and red currant dance alongside violets, dried herbs and earth, with fine minerally tannins fanning out on the finish.

alcohol by volume: 14.5%
critical acclaim:

"Full-bodied, rich, gutsy wine overflowing with blackcurrant fruit, cassis and tannins; good oak sustains the long finish. Screwcap."

Australian Wine Companion

"The saturated purple 2006 The Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits aromas of pain grille, pencil lead, vanilla, cinnamon, black cherry, and black currant. Impressively structured and well-balanced, this dense Cabernet demands 6-8 years of cellaring after which it will drink beautifully from 2016 to 2036. "

The Wine Advocate

"Opaque ruby. Powerful cassis and blueberry aromas are complicated by lavender and pungent herbs. Fleshy, palate-staining dark berry flavors are enlivened by juicy acidity. Gentle tannins add grip but don't get in the way of the lush, creamy fruit. Very impressive cabernet, with the sweetness to drink on the young side but the depth and balance to reward patience."

92 Points

International Wine Cellar

"Very true to the variety, with ample servings of cedar, tobacco and cassis, plenty of weight and a firm structure that bodes well for aging. Best from 2010-2020."

Wine Enthusiast

"Sweet boysenberry and currant flavors contrast the earthy tannins of this cabernet, leaving a bright impression. A fresh, floral note develops out of the dense fruit, leaving any oak influence in the background. Decant this five or six years from the vintage with roast lamb."
