For under $50, these are the wines I will drink time and again, happily. These are guaranteed excellence in a bottle.
  • Turnbull Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
    Sold Out $49.99
    2012 vintage available for $44.99
One of my favorite reds. Found this one because my friend brought it to dinner. Having since visited the winery, I am a huge Turnbull fan.
  • Saint Cosme Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2004
    Sold Out $46.99
    2011 vintage available for $57.99
This, as well as the cheaper "Cotes Du Rhone" from 2005 are superbly tasty wines, fruity, and so fragrant, while retaining power through every sip. TOP OF THE LINE - but totally affordable.
  • J Vineyards & Winery Russian River Pinot Noir 2006
    Sold Out $29.99
    2013 vintage available for $38.99
Perhaps my favorite Pinot Noir to date. That said, having recently visited their winery, I am not a big fan of their other Pinot Noirs from Robert Thomas and Nicole's Vineyard (single vineyard). Call me silly, but I like their regular pinot much more.I despised all of their whites, including the bubblies. But this Pinot Noir still strikes my fancy each time!
  • Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
    Sold Out $71.99
    2012 vintage available for $59.99
OK, so on wine.com - it's 2 bucks over $50. That's not the price I get this wine at, so I'm including it on my $50 or less list. Old faithful, always good, and really easily likeable by all. There is nothing to fault about this wine - and that is also why it's not my MOST favorite. While truly good wine, it doesn't stand out like some others. I like it, but I don't quite LOVE it. I do, however, favor JP's Insignia.
