Light & Fruity Smooth & Supple Earthy & Spicy Big & Bold
winemaker's notes:

Amador County yields a bold Old Vine Zinfandel with rich, bright raspberry and black cherry fruit complemented by hints of earth and spice that add to its complexity.

ZINFANDELIC is a tribute to the unique California wine varietal - Zinfandel. It is also a tribute the California movement & culture of the 1960s - Flower Power, Haight Ashbury, Summer of Love, Rock & Roll, etc. The label is reminiscent of rock posters of the sixties era.

The zinfandel vineyards are situated at a higher altitude in Amador County in California at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains – also known as Gold Country. The vineyards were sustainably farmed from old vines of approximately 40 years old.

This zin is less bold than most Amador county zins, but still nice.

It is a great wine that taste better when you let the wine breath for a few minutes. Trust me, your friends will love the label of this wine for any dinner party or get together at your house/apartment.

rating (4/28/2011):
Enjoyed it for a girl's night out and it made a great pairing for everything we ordered, from the hamburger to the pizza to the porkchop. Lots of fruit on the nose and palate, well balanced with good tannins.

rating (3/9/2011):
Nicely styled Zin with ripe fruit in a lighter, dry style that lets the earthy notes of sage and lavender come through. Good plum and blackberry flavors, classically Old Vine and a good match with pasta in cream sauce or my wife's dry rub BBQ ribs. Wonderful!
rating (2/21/2011):

I was excited to try this zinfadel. Zin is usually a nice standby and its difficult to go wrong. Despite other reviews, I did not enjoy it. The initial tasting was fine. It was rather bold, but the finish was not so great and I think the tanins were off. It left me with a "cheap wine" headache. The label is groovy, but its trip isn't.

We are thoroughly enjoying this zinfandel with meals.

The 2006 Old Vine Zinfandel is big and bold, balanced with flavors of berries and spice. Delicious with rich foods. I enjoyed it with smoked Gouda and a tomato-based pasta dish.

Zinfandelic Old Vine Zin 2006 is as good as the 2005, if not better. Flavors of wild berry, currant, and spice. Nice balance & smooth tannins. Love the hippie wine label.
