This wine is a deep garnet with a complex and powerful nose, due in part to the addition of 5% viognier on the ferment. It has aromas of ripe berries, complex violet, licorice and spice with a tarry oak complexity. The palate is full and rich with licorice and floral flavors. Well balanced with soft ripe tannins and a silky, long and clean finish. This wine will gain intensity and palate length with further bottle age.
