winemaker's notes:

A deep crimson red, The Scribbler 2009 shows excellent concentration and lift on the nose, with redcurrant fruits, spices and licorice complementing fresh floral aromatics of herbs and mints. This is a densely weighted wine with blackcurrant fruit and dark berries. The Shiraz is again nicely layered within a tightly integrated and beautifully structured Cabernet Sauvignon palate. Perfect to drink now, but will certainly cellar well over the next five to 10 years.

Pair with Beef Wellington. Also suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

alcohol by volume: 13.5%
critical acclaim:

"Light, bright red-purple; a 61/39% blend from the Barossa (which includes both Barossa Valley and Eden Valley) with vibrant redcurrant, cherry and plum fruit and a nice touch of oak. The moderate alcohol plays a major role in making this wine as fresh and drinkable as it is."

Bought this on sale and was thrilled that I bought several bottles but would buy it again at the regular price.

Wonderful nose on first pour. Deep and dark hue. Soft but dry tannins and medium body. Very smooth! Just a touch of bitterness on the medium finish. Might be more enjoyable in a year or two, just not enough stuff for me.

This is a very good Shiraz. Do not let the name fool you. The presentation of this Shiraz is excellent. The nose jumps out at you from the glass with notes of plums, black cherries and mild spices. This medium bodied wine needs a bit of decanting however, once this wine has the opportunity to open up a little, the notes are of fruit, spices and mild earth. The finish is very good for such a young vintage. I would recommend this wine with red meats, pork medium bodied fish and cheeses. Well deserving of its 93 point rating.
