winemaker's notes:

The Yalumba Barossa Shiraz is deep purple red in colour with complex aroma of cloves, dark cherries, and vanilla, with the Viognier adding delightful sweet floral characters. Rich and silky on the palate, this wine sees ripe plums and licorice meet with soft tannins to finish.

Yalumba has, for more than 150 years, been a vital part of the Barossa, making wines that reflect the best of the region. This wine is no exception. Made from Barossa Shiraz grown on 30-50 year old vines, this vintage has been enhanced with an added splash of Viognier - a rare and exotic grape variety. The Viognier has added a sweet floral lift on the nose, supporting the Shiraz flavours of plums, dark cherries and spice, and has given the wine a richer mouthfeel and silky texture. A Barossa stalwart with an alluring twist.

A Customer - Reading, Pa area
I drank this Shiraz on a wine-tasting trip thru thr Barossa Valley a few years ago, and think it is excellent as a toasty, full-bodied red. I place all Shirazes from Australia on a par with the good burgundies and chiantis of western Europe. No affiliation with any producer, etc. Thanks
A Customer - sunnyvale, CA
We also had this wine in Australia (June '06) for a blind Shiraz tasting with several other bottles. This was the favorite among all of eight of us! Great everyday drinking wine with a really nice finish.
A Customer - Florida
If you enjoy a really smooth shiraz without too much oak this is the one to buy. Great with all foods and is really good just by iteself. Give this one a try!

Kosher wine
Kosher
A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.
Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.
Green wine
Green Wines
Wines that use sustainable, organic and/or biodynamic practices in the vineyard and/or winemaking process. We rely on a number of U.S. and International certifications to qualify wines "green."
