World's Greatest Wine Estates
by Robert M. Parker, Jr.
Autographed copy

Hardcover. 704 pages. 175 photographs.
Robert Parker's latest book is about the artists, craftspeople, revolutionaries, and traditionalists who have one overwhelming trait in common -- they are irrefutably dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, and it is their heart, souls, and enormous talents that are reflected in wines of singular personality and achievement. Parker says, 'The book is the culmination of 26 years of work, and represents the essence of my wine education and experience.'

The featured wines in this collection and their review as published by Robert M. Parker, Jr. in The Wine Advocate:

Chateau Palmer 2002
A successful wine for the vintage, this blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 8% Petit Verdot boasts complex notes of menthol, black currants, plums, licorice, and a hint of cappuccino in its stunning aromatics.
- Robert Parker 93 points

Delas Freres 2001 Hermitage les Bessards
Delas' luxury cuvee is top-flight, even in the challenging 2001 vintage. The inky-colored 2001 Hermitage Les Bessards boasts pure cassis notes intermixed with hints of licorice and tar. Sweet, ripe, concentrated, full-bodied, and impressively endowed, it is only for readers with cold cellars and considerable discipline as 5-7 years of cellaring will be warranted.
- Robert Parker 92+ points

Clarendon Hills 2003 Hickinbotham Vineyard Syrah
The 2003 Syrah Hickinbotham Vineyard is a prodigious effort. With fabulous notes of melted licorice, smoke, asphalt, creme de cassis, and roasted jus de viande, this full-bodied, dense yet remarkably elegant, well-balanced Syrah should hit its peak in 2-3 years, and last for 15+. Roman Bratasiuk is one of Planet Earth's greatest winemakers, and obviously a top-notch viticulturist given his obsession with sourcing extraordinary fruit from ancient McLaren Vale vineyards.
- Robert Parker 95+ points

Louis Jadot 2003 Clos Vougeot
Super-spicy blackberries and black cherries make up the aromatic profile of the 2003 Clos Vougeot. While Jadot's parcel in this grand cru is sometimes derided for its location, in 2002 and 2003 – two vintages where water-retaining soils were advantageous – the results have been glorious. Its dense, pure personality is medium to full-bodied, chewy-textured, crammed with dark cherries, and immensely concentrated. This awesomely deep, muscular, and persistent wine is masculine and displays exceptional ripeness.
- Pierre Rovani 95 points

Taylor Fladgate 2003 Vintage Port
The 2003 Taylor Fladgate Vintage Port improved each time I raised it to my nose or mouth. It displays a black color and a salty, graphite-laced nose packed with sweet black fruits that is reminiscent of a stellar vintage of Chateau Latour. With air, notes of molasses, burnt sugar, spices, and jammy plums emanate from the glass. Full-bodied, hugely dense, immensely rich, as well as thick, this behemoth is also amazingly balanced and harmonious. Raisins, molasses, licorice, black cherries, plums, and a distinctive note of violets are found in its complex, seamless character.
- Pierre Rovani 98 points

Pierro Antinori 2001 Solaia
A deep nose of creme de cassis intermixed with smoked herbs, licorice, espresso roast, and a hint of vanilla and chocolate is followed by a full-bodied wine with real opulence, depth, and a long, heady finish.
- Daniel Thomases 91 points
