Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 13.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The Wolf Blass Yellow Label Shiraz is deep crimson at the core with purple hues. Lifted blueberry and ripe plum fruit melds with spice and underlying oak notes. The palate is full bodied with dark berry fruits; blueberry and plum melds with subtle mocha oak notes.

Critical Acclaim

"It is easy to criticise big company wines as boring, lacking zest and life, having no heart, and so on. The other side of the coin is that these wines are perfectly balanced, have seductive mouthfeel and are as easy to drink the day they are released as 5 years thereafter. This wine also happens to have only 13.5% alcohol, adding to the drink-now appeal of its gently spicy plum and blackberry fruit, plus the veneer of oak that is so expertly applied. "
