This unique site seems to be expressing more fruit-driven characteristics as these vines mature. The aromas of Rainier cherries, fennel, cardamom, earth and minerals dominate the bouquet entirely in this vintage. The concentrated flavors of wild berries, cola, minerals and fresh cardamom are complemented by the lingering tannin and long finish. As this vineyard continues to mature it is showing the true idiom of this unique site.
"A spectacular, beautiful wine, the best Williams Selyem Weir ever. This wine can be rustic, and the '09 shows the vineyard's edgy tannin structure and eathiness. But it's so rich in fruit, mocha and spices, so elegant, with such a delicacy despite the power, you have to admire it. Not ready though. Give it at least six years. Cellar Selection"

"Bright red. Highly expressive, floral aromas of strawberry, raspberry, potpourri and Asian spices. Vibrant and spicy on entry, then gains heft and depth in the mid-palate, offering smoky red berry and musky floral flavors and excellent tangy lift. Benefits enormously from aeration, showing excellent clarity on the long, spicy finish. I'd bet on this aging slowly and gracefully."
