Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Alcohol By Volume: 13.8%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Black cherry, plum, rose petal, mocha, and exotic spice combine to give this wine a very pretty nose. This is an extremely well-balanced wine with a very long finish. Fresh acidity brings your mouth to life, helping to express raspberry and black cherry fruit flavors while enhancing the wine's rich tannins. Crème brulee, spice and dark chocolate linger on the back of the palate. The fruit, acid and tannin balance of this wine will ensure it has a long life. Entry is sweet and broad with black cherry and cherry skin flavors and focused acidity. Mocha and allspice round out the finish on this very elegant Pinot Noir.

Critical Acclaim

"Bright ruby-red. Smoky, pungent aromas of dark berry preserves, cola and anise, with slow-building spiciness and a touch of white pepper. Broad and fleshy on entry, then tighter in the mid-palate, offering juicy black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of candied rose. Shows impressive clarity and energy on the supple, floral finish."
