Wine Style Guide

Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 13.9%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Another excellent vintage from our vineyards in the Central Coast. The ripe aromas of cherry, raspberry, green tea, mocha and spice dominate the nose. This wine shows richer and broader tannins than the 2004 version, with a better overall concentration and depth of fruit. A long sweet cherry and silky oak finish complete this wine. Needs time to mature in the bottle.

Critical Acclaim

"Medium red. Sexy, open-knit red berry and floral scents, with a subtle hint of anise. Suave, silky and bright, with energetic raspberry and wild strawberry flavors gently lifted by soft acids. Fills out on the finish, which displays impressive depth and lingering sweetness."
91 Points

"Ripe and plump, with rich plum and black cherry flavors that are complex, elegant and well-integrated. Drink now through 2011. 672 cases made. "
