Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Most of this fruit is grown on Williams Selyem's Drake Estate Vineyard layered with vineyards from along Westside & Eastside Roads. The nose is redolent of ripe blackberries, plums, toffee and creme brulee. The rich and full tannins accentuate the blackberry & dark plummy fruits and complement the creamy, silky finish. The concentrated dark fruits and spicy flavors truly express the classic finesse and depth of complexity that you would expect from a classic Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.

Critical Acclaim

"Williams Selyem defines Russian River pinot with this cherry-bright, red-fruited wine. It carries freshness through fruit as well as herb scented tannins, those elements combining in a firmly textured wine, polished and rich without any excess weight. For roast quail. "

"Bright ruby. Powerfully scented aromas of cherry-cola, black raspberry and potpourri, with exotic Asian spice nuances building in the glass. Youthfully wound up on entry, with slow-to-open red and dark berry liqueur flavors and subtle black pepper and floral pastille qualities. Fleshier on the finish, which features silky tannins and a late jolt of candied licorice."
