The aromas of olallieberry, blueberry, plum, fennel and mushrooms come to life in the glass. Prosperous, plump and expansive tannins complement the focus of spicy flavors across your palate. The focus of matured dark fruits and zesty flavors develop nicely across your palate. This wine will need a bit more cellaring time to show its full potential.
"Looking to ripe cherries as its first point of focus with notes of dried violets, creamy oak and suggestions of cocoa-like richness in the background, this wine is a bit tougher on the palate than its aromas would suggest. Still, it is deep and and promising, and we would be happy to have it in the cellar for the next few years."
"Riper, more serious aromas of dark fruits, smoke and licorice, with suggestions of mocha and tobacco. Fatter, sweeter and lower-toned than the foregoing samples, with a building minerality giving lift and shape to the mid-palate. This has more stuffing to support its more obvious tannins, and its lingering finish features solid thrust and blackberry and bitter cherry notes. Altogether more brooding than the other 2008 pinots here and missing the other wines' vibrancy.
