Alcohol By Volume: 12.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Albamar pays homage to the Casablanca Valley's foggy sunrise ("alba" means sunrise) and the cooling breezes of the ocean ("mar" means ocean).

This wine shows excellent fresh fruit character and flavors of meyer lemon and crisp apple. It is bone dry and very food friendly.

Critical Acclaim

"Sea bass ceviche would match the acidity and mineral freshness of this sauvignon. Everything seems to be citrus here, and time in the glass doesn’t diminish the wine's spark and vibrant flavors.

Crisp and refreshing with notes of grapefruit. A far superior wine for the price.

Really love this wine- buying another case today. It is as described- bone dry and crisp. The apples and lemons are there, but it also seems to have a grapfruity undercurrent. Lovely with food and excellent for a refreshingly crisp after-work glass.

Not a fan. I think I'll stick with Sauvignon Blancs from New Zealand over Chile.

Learn About Chile

(CHEE-lay) Long and thin, Chile has a lot of land north to south. The wine region here is a series of districts based near Santiago. The vineyards are protected by the Pacific on the west and the Andes mountains on the east. This could help explain why the climate changes more from east to west than north to south - also why the country has remained phylloxera free....
