Willamette Valley Vineyards Whole Cluster Pinot Noir 1998
Pinot Noir
from Willamette Valley, Oregon
winemaker's notes:
Vibrant and explosive aromas of carbonic fermentation: bananas, cherries, and strawberries dominate, with aromas of sweet juice and warm spices. Flavors mirror aromas with bananas, strawberries, and cherries dominating with juicy and spicy characters. The mouthfeel is soft, round, juicy, and full. The finish is long and fresh with lingering flavors of fruit well balanced with fresh acidity which highlights the fruitiness. Peak drinkability should be within 2-3 years, but will continue to drink well until 2002.

This Pinot literally exploded with fruity flavors on the first sip! It had a soft, velvety, smoothness I had not experienced in Pinot's before. There is a light hint of oak, and nothing but pure, light fruit ! Excellent wine for just sipping or to enjoy with chicken or fish !
