WillaKenzie Estate Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2006
from Willamette Valley, Oregon
The wine displays an appealing garnet color and exceptional clarity. The aromas give an initial impression of fresh, bright red fruit, enhanced by subtle herbal tones. The flavors follow the aromas with lively cherry, plum and cranberry plus a hint of earthiness. The mid-palate offers generous, ripe fruit, framed by good acidity and refined, well-integrated tannins.
The overall impression in the mouth is elegant, balanced and very pleasing. The finish is long with licorice, spice and a touch of white pepper.
This is a wonderfully approachable wine that can be enjoyed by itself as an aperitif, or with fare such as roasted poultry, milder cheeses, pâté and mushrooms, grilled salmon and other lighter fish.
