winemaker's notes:

Blend: 91% Syrah, 5% Grenache, 4% Viognier from the Stonetree and Elephant Mountain vineyards.

The personality of the local terroir is skilfully captured - inspiring a handsome, earthy wine that is packed with power and concentration.

Violet, leather and blueberry aromas float in the glass, wrapping the palate with black licorice, minerals, fig and dark chocolate. Bold texture eases into a lovely send-off of exotic spices.

"...smells like a bowl of cocoa and blackberries cloaked with the scent of violets and tar. It's juicy and delicious with explosive black cherry and black raspberry fruit..."
-Wines & Spirits

"Crisp and juicy, this is almost preternaturally focused to show off its blueberry, plum and blackberry fruit, shaded by hints of mineral and cream as the finish lingers effortlessly against light, crisp tannins."
-Wine Spectator

"Heady aromas of raspberry, plum and mocha. Ripe cherry flavors with a peppery, acidic edge. Lengthy finish with youthful, rough-hewn tannins."

I would buy this wine again
This isn't a knock- your -socks -off blockbuster of a wine, but still it's well worth the $20. The pure fruit is driven by fresh acidity and ripe tannins. It fills your mouth in an understated but appealing way compared to some overly sweet or overly oaked syrah/shirazes. I enjoyed it by itself as well as with food.

I would buy this wine again
This wine is a wonderful surprise. It drank easily, finished well. Purchase if you are into big, dark berry flavors.

Kosher wine
Kosher
A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.
Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.
Green wine
Green Wines
Wines that use sustainable, organic and/or biodynamic practices in the vineyard and/or winemaking process. We rely on a number of U.S. and International certifications to qualify wines "green."

These wines will improve from additional bottle age, when properly stored, and may show the greatest potential to increase in value.

Boutique Wines
These wines are made in limited quantities and are typically produced from single vineyard sources or made by small, artisanal wineries. While the winery may produce larger quantities, we limit wines with this designation to a 1,000 case production.
