Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Brilliant deep purple in appearance. There are strong berry and vanilla spice characters on the nose.

The palate is full and rich, typical of Water Wheel wines, with noticeable berry and licorice flavors. The wine has excellent length with a long and persistent finish balanced with fine, chalky tannins.

It is ready to drink now and will continue to improve in the medium term. It is a superb table wine, ideal to serve with a wide variety of red meat dishes.

Critical Acclaim

"A dense and rich wine with black fruits and a slight minty overtone; fairly robust, the tannins needing to soften somewhat."
