A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinotage, Shiraz.
Each component brings its own unique qualities to this classically styled blend. This vintage displays lots of prune and berry compote aromas as well as peppermint chocolate and Sandalwood in the background. The Pinotage is soft and sweet while the Merlot and Shiraz offer a subtle spiciness. The Cabernet Sauvignon is the backbone of the blend with well balanced and focused tannins that do well with cellaring. This blend brings the best of Pinotage to the classic French varieties in a complex and approachable style.
"Deep, saturated ruby-red. Burnishes aromas of plum, black cherry, currant, cedary cigar box and sexy oak. Lush, rich and deep, but with harmonious acidity framing the complex flavors of plum, chocolate, licorice and mint. This boasts a compelling sappy core of sweet fruit and superb energy for a wine that spent nearly three years in oak. Very sophisticated and very long, finishing with building tannins that call for patience. A beauty. 92(+?) points."

"Dark and rich, displaying alluring fig sauce, boysenberry and black tea aromas and flavors that glide along, with ample but integrated toast framing the charcoal- and briar-tinged finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Syrah and Merlot. Drink now through 2011."
Earthy & Spicy
This is a terrific blend for drinking with food The wine has a wonderful complexity, with lots of minerality, and plenty of structure to hold it together. I highly recommend this. I have reordered twice, as I keep gravitating to it.
