Voss Vineyards Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2006
Sauvignon Blanc
from Napa Valley, California
winemaker's notes:
The 2006 Sauvignon Blanc displays classic varietal aromas, flavor and texture.
Aromas of grapefruit, passion fruit, guava, and fresh herbs lead to a delightful
combination of intense exotic and citrus fruit flavors across the palate. The
lingering finish is bright and crisp.
I would buy this wine again
I almost gave this wine 4 stars (I think my husband would give it that) but for me it was a bit too light to merit 4 stars. It is a well balanced wine with a feathery light mouth feel and also a beautiful pale color. It is perfectly enjoyable all on it's own, without eating anything. In fact, for me, that's the main drawback of this wine, it's too light in body to even stand up to any food, except perhaps water crackers and a very mild cheese. If you like just a glass of cold, crisp white wine in the summer, in-between meals perhaps, this would be a nice choice. If you're looking for something that you could pair with an appetizer, soup or salad, I could suggest something with a little more "heft".
