Vinos Pinol Ludovicus 2010
Red Wine from Spain
ratings pedigree (past vintages):
winemaker's notes:
Ludovicus offers a glass-coating deep crimson hue with an expressive nose of cherry, blueberry, and blackberry. Mouthfilling, succulent, and flavorful, this tasty effort is a sensational value for drinking over the next 1-2 years.
This ripe, juicy, vibrantly big-fruited red wine is a real crowd pleaser, and Ludovicus's easy drinking nature makes it a versatile wine, either with meat and pork main courses or with more casual tapas or small plates. Of course, this wine is also a great sipper on its own.

critical acclaim:
"Bright purple. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, smoky minerals and white pepper, plus a suggestion of dried rose. Silky on entry, then firmer in the middle, with flavors of red and black fruits and floral pastille. The floral quality repeats on the lively, subtly powerful finish."

International Wine Cellar
"Celler Vinos Pinol's red wines begin with the 2010 Ludovicus, a blend of 40% Garnacha with the balance Carinena, Merlot, Syrah, and Tempranillo aged 3 months in French and American oak. It emits an inviting nose of spice box (cinnamon and clove), lavender, black cherry, and plum. In the glass it sports an easy-going, friendly personality leading to a fruit-laden finish with no hard edges. Drink this tasty blend over the next 3 years."

I can't think of a better wine for $$. Fabulous black fruit and velvety tannins made this a great pairing for spicy chicken tacos. Everyone at the table loved it - no easy feat!
