Winemaker Notes

Vina Bujanda Crianza, made from 100% Tempranillo has an excellent balance. It has low to moderate acidity. The palate consists of fresh strawberries and spice that age into flavours of rich cherry and tobacco.

Pair with cured ham, paellas, and schwarma.

Professional Ratings

The 2010 Crianza is produced from 30-year-old Tempranillo vines fermented in stainless steel and aged for 12 months in used barrels. It displays an attractive bright red ruby color, aromas of wild strawberries, clove, pepper, vanilla and a hint of leather and it-s easy and pleasant to drink, medium-bodied, with clean acidity. A great Crianza at a great price. Drink 2014-2018.

Hailed as the star red variety in Spain’s most celebrated wine region, Tempranillo from Rioja, or simply labeled, “Rioja,” produces elegant wines with complex notes of red and black fruit, crushed rock, leather, toast and tobacco, whose best examples are fully capable of decades of improvement in the cellar.

Rioja wines are typically a blend of fruit from its three sub-regions: Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Oriental, although specific sub-region (zonas), village (municipios) and vineyard (viñedo singular) wines can now be labeled. Rioja Alta and Alavesa, at the highest elevations, are considered to be the source of the brightest, most elegant fruit, while grapes from the warmer and drier, Rioja Oriental, produce wines with deep color, great body and richness.
