Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The natural copper-colored extracted with maceration is the signature of this wine and its richness with reminiscent of pear Williams, banana, and Acacia flowers wrapped in a slight scent of fresh apricot. Intriguing taste with pleasant flavors of pear syrup and quince peels. Good acid/alcohol balance with a long fruity finish

Critical Acclaim

"The 2010 Pinot Grigio Jesera is very nicely done. A rich, textured fabric of varietal fruit caresses the palate in this generous, expansive white. For the first time I note a slightly more intense shade in the color here, suggesting that Venica is following the increasingly popular retro trend of giving the Pinot Grigio a little bit of contact on the skins. This is a very pretty showing from Venica. A clean, poised finish gives the wine its sense of balance and harmony. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015. "

"Tangy and intense with mineral and green apple character and hints of pear. Full and flavorful. This is an environmentally sustainable winery that I respect. Drink now."

Hugging the alps and the Austrian border, the climate here is cool and the vines are planted on the hillsides, allowing for more sun exposure. The cool temperatures of the region result in the lively...

Learn About Pinot Gris/Grigio

Pinot Gris/Grigio(PEE-noh gree/GREE-jee-oh) While Pinot Grigio is in fact the same grape as Pinot Gris (just the Italian take on it), the differences of wine they create can be immense. Pinot Gris' most popular and successful region is Alsace, France, an area of the country that actually puts the name of the grape on the label. Pinot Grigio is the Italian version of the grape,...
