Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.
Alcohol By Volume: 14.6%
Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
2007 was an outstanding vintage with the vineyard ripening perfectly. This voluminous wine is ripe with heady layers of black cherry, blackberry, espresso bean and our signature cedar box nose. The palate is marked by sweet, velvety tannins and a refined, almost mountain fruit structure followed by a bold and per-sistent finish. There is a ripe and rich sophistication to the wine that while drinking young now will continue to improve for several years to come.
"A big, ripe style that's rough hewn and chunky, yet deep and concentrated, with flashy plum, red and black cherry, red licorice and mineral notes, with a touch of green olive and espresso. Full-bodied, focused, complex and persistent. A notable achievement. Best from 2012 through 2024."
"Very pretty ripe blackberry and blueberry character. Full yet round and compacted. Velvety tannins and delicious fruit. Lots going on, but subtle and stylish. Pull the cork after 2013."
"Bright, deep red-ruby. Lively aromas of cherry and tobacco lifted by a floral quality; higher-pitched than the basic 2006 cabernet. Then juicy, dry and tightly wound on the palate, with a distinctly weightless quality to the cherry, floral and mineral flavors. Plenty of tannic spine here for aging.

Learn About Venge Vineyards
The Venge (ven-ghee) family has farmed vitis viniferra varieties in Napa Valley for nearly a half-century. It is a journey that began when Knud Venge migrated from Denmark to the United States in the early 1900’s. Knud's son, Per Venge, found his passion in the wine and spirits industry and started Vencom Imports, focusing on the importation of Western European fine wines and spirits. It was Per's son, Nils Venge, who left the family business in the 1960's with a vision to study viticulture at UC Davis and establish the family namesake as an icon within the winegrowing community.

The Napa wine industry really took off in the 1980's, when vineyard...
