winemaker's notes:

Dark and impenetrable color with deep purple hues. The aromas are a tight and intriguing bouquet of dark cherry, mineral, espresso, cinnamon, roasted meats and potpourri notes. The palate opens gently with refined definition, nicely accentuated by a solid core of fruit weight without heaviness. An excellent balance of tannins and acid.

The Garden Series is a Super Premium range of six Shiraz from six of the finest Shiraz producing regions in Australia. Max's Garden reflects the terroir of Heathcote.

alcohol by volume: 14.5%
critical acclaim:

"Beautifully balanced and harmonious, this is a distinctive wine that offers pure flavors of mineral-accented plum and blackberry. Hints at violet and earth as the finish sails on and on. The tannins are present, but smoothly integrated. Drink now through 2015. 1,080 cases made."

Wine Spectator

"Good hue, though less depth than the other shirazs in the portfolio; a fragrant, light- to medium-bodied wine, perhaps reflecting younger vines; fresh fruit flavors. "

92 Points

Australian Wine Companion

"Dark red. A melange of dark berry, ripe cherry, plum and underbrush notes on the nose, with accents of anise and tobacco. Firm, focused and deep cherry and dark berry flavors pick up aged beef and licorice qualities with air. Youthfully solid wine with a powerful, dense tone to the finish, which is a touch wound up today. "This is the one that needs the most time of the Garden wines," says Twelftree. "
