The 2009 Ueberroth is very much in keeping with the vintage overall and shows rich texture and weight. Given the vineyard site, this wine should be lean and mean; however, the low yielding, ancient vines produce concentrated wines with restraint. The mid-palate is weighty with blue and black fruits, a hint of spice, and garrigue. This is a cellar-worthy wine that will go the distance.
"A knockout Zinfandel, combining power and incredible depth with finesse and a rich texture. Aromas of deep black cherry, bitter chocolate and toasty sage lead to complex flavors of wild berry, loam and spiced licorice. Tannins tighten the finish. Best from 2014 through 2019. 500 cases made."

"Not surprisingly, the 2009 Zinfandel Ueberroth Vineyard exhibits lots of structure as well as a chalky minerality, lavish kirsch and black currant fruit and more muscle and density than many of its siblings. It will be even better with 1-2 years of bottle age and will be one of the few 2009 Zins that will last a decade or more. Range 91-94"
