Trimbach Clos Ste. Hune 1999
Riesling
from Alsace, France
winemaker's notes:
"This has always been a terrific wine, and the newest release, the 1999, may be the finest produced since the 1990. An extraordinarily rich wine, it offered notes of honeyed citrus, cold steel, green apples, and candied lemons as well as oranges."
-Wine Advocate
Rated by many judges as the greatest Alsace Riesling of all, Clos Sainte Hune comes from an exceptional, 1.3 hectare plot near Hunawih. Dry yet succulent, of phenomenal complexity, this wine develops an extra-ordinary aftertaste of minerals after a few years in bottle. Of great longevity and very rare (production rarely exceeds 7000 bottles), Clos Sainte Hune takes at least seven years to reach its peak.
