winemaker's notes:

Number 70 on the Wine.com 100 of 2007!

"What a sensational value! Made by Trevor Jones in partnership with importer Dan Philips, this is a blend averaging 46 years in age. Its light to medium ruby hue is accompanied by an extraordinary bouquet of sweet candied fruit intermixed with notions of maple syrup, earth, and hazelnuts. This gorgeous tawny delivers plenty of pleasure." --Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, October 2004.

I would buy this wine again

Incredibly smooth--not a hint of alcohol "burn". Simply Dee-Lish!

  Good Port - 2/7/2008
I would buy this wine again

I don't think you need to order a case, but do try this nice Port that is very affordable. The sophisticated wine drinker will have had better in his day, but to appeal to a larger less picky crowd this is a solid option in its class.

  not too sweet - 1/25/2008
I would buy this wine again

a perfect dessert wine for those of us that want the sweetness but not too much like a german wine or most ports. Lots of body for after dinner wine. Taste like liquid raisins

I would buy this wine again

I enjoyed this port, though I don't usually like sweeter wines- this one did not disappoint.

A different take on this port from most of the reviewers. Nothing subtle about it, like drinking maple syrup blended with plum juice. What others called long finish I would call the aftertaste. Unique-yes, but not in a good way. For ten bucks, may be worth a try to see if it's your taste...wasn't mine.

We just returned from Maui and purchased a bottle of your port and it was excellent. I would like to see if I can buy it here in Citrus Heights, CA 956l0

To the reviewer who said "Cool Ranch Doritos" - you are evil! I was totally enjoying this port until I read that and realized... You're right. Completely correct. The Jonesy exudes Cool Ranch Doritos and... Berry syrup? Damnit. I'm not going to be able to NOT taste Cool Ranch Doritos now when I drink it. And I've got almost a full bottle to go. Grr!

A Customer - NY
An excellent port. Sweet but crisp. Those who are not a fan of a good sweet port will not like this. I love this port. Will purchase again.

A Customer - nyc
very nice. hints of plum and cool ranch doritos. nice long finish too.

A Customer - florida
Great--beats Taylor-Fladgate 10 year old tawny. To top it you have to go to the vintage Ports, at like $50 and up. A steal.

A Customer - Louisville, Kentucky
Fladgate and Sandemann have been the most common names in my port collection over the years, and while their complexity and depth are appreciated, their costs can be an issue. A good friend suggested trying something from "Down Under", and advised the Austrailians were making a "respectable" product. Jonesy turned out to be a full bodied well rounded port with good fruit complexity, if not quite the mouthfeel desired. But if mouthfeel is the only complaint, paticularly when taking into account the pricepoint of Jonesy versus a 20yr old Taylor, one can easily make allowances for this slight shortcoming. To sum it up, yes there are better ports, but not without making a significanly larger investment in your liquor cabinet. I recommend it be tried by port lovers both casual and committed.

A Customer - Cleveland, Ohio
This is the only Port I will ever buy from now on. Phenomenal.

A Customer - Chicago (formerly Rutherglen)
Deep rusted crimson color, quite dark for a Tawny Port. Sweet on the nose with strong hints of candied Ginger. Big Tawny Port flavors with a big hit of raisins up front then some subtle spice and stewed fruits and a long oxidised tannin 'Tawny' finish. Nothing overly complex, but for ten bucks this is a steal! Fantastic tipple and definitely something to always have in stock!

Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.
