One of the noblest of all varietals. It is the grape most associated with Bordeaux in France. Cabernet sauvignon was known by two clones (or strains) in the eighteenth century, Petite Vidure and Grande Vidure, whose name comes from vigne dure, or hard vine. Grande vidure was the preferred clone for its quality. DNA testing has concluded that the parentage of cabernet sauvignon is cabernet franc and sauvignon (blanc), probably via accidental cross-breeding between neighboring vineyards. Trentadue has a very limited production of cabernet sauvignon. Our wine has a jammy black cherry essence, coffee, tar, and tobacco impressions. Produced entirely from 25- to 30-year-old estate-grown Dry Creek Valley vines. It adds depth and structure to many of our wines such as our Merlot and Sangiovese.
