Blend: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Syrah
The 2004 Treana Red displays well integrated tannins that lend structure, depth and elegance to this bold wine. Up-front aromas of ripe, dark fruit and anise are followed by rich flavors of mulberry and plum. Subtle notes of tobacco, toasted oak and clean minerality complement the wine's explosive fruit character. A full, rounded mouthfeel leads to a silky, lasting finish. This wine will age beautifully over the next decade.
"Cabernet Sauvignon gives this wine a luscious, elegant mouthfeel, with classic currant and cedar flavors. Syrah brings a gamy, leathery note, with white pepper accents. The result is an interesting, complex young wine of power and authority."
"Inky ruby. Powerful dark berry, licorice and smoked meat scents are impressively pungent and sharpened by cracked pepper and baking spices. Showing its syrah side today. Supple and deep in dark berry preserve flavors, with velvety tannins adding support. Gains weight and sweetness on the finish, leaving a strong boysenberry quality behind. This is already drinking very well."
