winemaker's notes:

Tilia Malbec has a dark, blackish purple color. The nose offers ripe black fruits, black pepper spice and floral notes. The mouthfeel is full yet soft and supple, with black raspberry and currant flavors mingled with notes of sweet spice and a touch of leather. The finish is long and persistent with soft, sweet tannins.

alcohol by volume: 13.5%
critical acclaim:

"The 2011 Tilia Malbec, once again from Eastern Mendoza and Uco Valley raised in oak for six to nine months; has an attractive, comparatively complex bouquet of blackberry, wild hedgerow, crushed stone and black pepper. The palate is medium-bodied with tense, edgy tannins on the entry that counterpoise the tight ball of blackberry, briary and minerals with style. It builds nicely in the mouth, leading to a firm, black olive-tinged finish that lightly grips the mouth. Excellent."

Not sure if this was a bad bottle, but it was not pleasant to drink. Using it for cooking. Seems to coincide with the adage you get what you pay for.

4 stars at this price point. The typical Catena style Malbec, with nose and taste of blackberries and black pepper. Medium body with a little grip on the palate. Easy drinking.

for the price, this is a winner. Nose of red berries and a nice smooth feel in the mouth. A medium finish with a touch of acidity at the end.
