Wine Style Guide

Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 14.0%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The wine has a deep, ruby-red color and intense, complex aromas of red fruits and spices, with toasty oak notes. On the palate, the wine has a silky texture, great finesse and profound flavors framed by noble, velvety tannins. Though impressive now, this wine will benefit from aging.

Critical Acclaim

"A very structured 2007 Brunello, with ripe and firm tannins and beautiful fresh fruit. Full body, chewy and intense, with a long finish. This is the best from here in years. Wonderful depth of fruit. Try in 2016."
95 Points

"Black licorice, cola and cherry liqueur open the nose and segue to black currant and crème de cassis aromas, then forest floor, bramble and Spanish cedar. This wine is linear, crisp and tight on the palate, with firm tannins. Give the wine five more years to soften."

I can't believe it, I just got back home from Italy and visiting this exact winery! I tasted and loved this wine. Purchased it at the winery and fought with customs to get it home and could have simply purchased on Wine.com. Brunellos usually need some time to age but this 2007 is perfect and ready to drink. I am going to buy more now that Wine.com has it. Thanks Wine.com!

A very smooth wine. It had a lot of depth of flavor, the color was dark yet translucent, great legs, and super tasty. I loved it

Learn About Sangiovese

Sangiovese (SAHN-gee-oh-VAY-zee) Blood of Jove (literally translated) The principal grape of Chianti - in fact, the principle grape of all of Tuscany - has had its ups and downs. For a stint in the 70s and 80s, wines labeled Chianti contained cheap red wine packaged in a straw casked bottle, most popular for the candle holder it would become. But no more. Sangiovese re...
