"Bright medium ruby-red, less dark than the Feudo di Mezzo. Wonderfully scented nose of red cherry, rose petal and minerals, with a tantalizing note of creamy cherry cola and a strong mineral quality; more mineral-driven and less oaky on the nose than the Feudo di Mezzo. The palate offers almost Burgundian red fruit flavors, with a juicy, sappy character and a nutty quality building on the back end and lingering impressively. A simply fantastic wine and one I struggled long and hard to score: it's as good as, though quite different from, the Feudo di Mezzo, and both rank among Italy's top wines of the year. Really remarkable stuff-and my score may prove to be stingy."
