Winemaker's Notes

We decided to keep the blend the same as last year for this year's B.M.T. Syrah. The 50% Three Creek Vineyard Syrah, 25% Colson Canyon Vineyard Syrah, and 25% Colson Canyon Vineyard Grenache blend beautifully reflects the complex personality of our niece, Bailey Michelle Tensley. The Three Creek Syrah, bold and flavorful, reminded us of Bailey's fun and adventurous spirit while the Colson Canyon's licorice and spice brought to mind her sly sense of humor. The graceful and elegant Grenache perfectly reflects our niece as she grows into a lovely and self-assured young woman. This wine is aromatic and jammy with notes of black cherry and raspberries interwoven with nuances of violets, chocolate, and smoke. Rich and well-structured this blend is sure to age well over the next ten years.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2007 Syrah B.M.T. is a young, but enormously promising wine with considerable upside potential. Its dense purple color is followed by meaty, peppery, blackberry, cassis, and subtle smoke characteristics. Full-bodied, impressively endowed, and in need of a year or two of bottle age, it brings to mind a Chapoutier Hermitage, and should age nicely for 10-15+ years. Very impressive stuff ... but only for true connoisseurs. "

"Dense and chewy, this is a perfect contrast to the Tensley OGT bottling, packed with chewy blackberry, wild berry, floral, spice and cedar notes. The tannins end with a gripping yet supple aftertaste that keeps the fruit at the forefront."

Though we've grown in size, our philosophy has never changed - source the best fruit possible and let the vineyard speak for itself.

The home base of Syrah is the Northern Rhone, where it creates the exclusive wines of Hermitage and Cote Rotie. On the less pricy side, the Rhone makes Syrah-based wines in Crozes...
