winemaker's notes:

"Tait has been establishing a track record for hedonistically rendered wines at consumer friendly prices for several years. Previous vintages of this wine have been smash hits and the 2006 The Ball Buster is a lock to continue the trend. It is a 15,000 case cuvee, all of which was basket-pressed, a labor-intensive process not commonly associated with a wine in this price category. The wine is composed of 78% Shiraz, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Merlot aged for 12 months in used French and American oak. Purple-colored, it exhibits a classy bouquet of cedar, earth, tar, espresso, blueberry, black currants, and licorice. Supple, ripe and soft on the palate, this seamless, crowd-pleaser of a wine can be enjoyed now and over the next several years. It is an awesome value." - Wine Advocate

rating (9/29/2010):
I don't usually give 5s - a wine has to be beyond special for that (in other words, a 4 is my 5...a 5 is my oh-my-word 10). But, well, I love things out of the Barossa Valley to begin with - they just have that wining taste somehow, but for the PRICE, this wine is incredible. If I were to try it without knowing the price, I would figure it had cost at least $40-$60 a bottle!! Now, how right/wrong is THAT? The nose on this is evident the moment you open the bottle. The taste is an immediate explosion in the mouth, with plenty of earth flavor accompanied by the fruits we all want. The finish lingers just enough, with a round, full feel. What's not to like about a wine that's inexpensive and feels like a million bucks? :)

Fruit forward, balanced with a touch of heat. Lingering after taste. Excellent value.
rating (9/27/2010):
I think this wine is a good value for 20 bucks, but I found it fairly ordinary and don't know what all the raving is about.
