Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Deep red color. Nice concentration in the nose, ripe, full of red fruit like plumbs, strawberries, and vanilla. In the palate is full-bodied with nice tannins and great structure, well balance with a nice acidity and lots of fruit.

Critical Acclaim

"Ruby-red. Spicy blackberry and cherry on the nose, with complicating licorice and Indian spice qualities. A whiff of vanilla adds depth to the sweet dark berry flavors, with silky tannins adding finishing grip. In a rich style for pinot but there's lots of attractive fruit here."
