Long inspired by the wines of the Southern Rhone Valley, this is our an- swer to a Washington version of a Cotes-du-Rhone Villages wine. Ripe and hedonistic, this wine displays vivid ruby color with varying degrees of purple black. Aromatics lean towards cherries, pomegranate and black- berry with layers of exotic spices. Nuances of licorice, pepper, and pro- vincial herbs mingle with the fruit. Flavors closely mimic aromatics with a broad expansive texture. This is sausages or country cheeses.
35% Syrah 21% Mourvedre 16% Grenache 15% Cinsault 13% Counoise
"This 35% Syrah, 21% Mourvèdre, 16% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 13% Counoise blend, finished in screwcap, is once again outstanding. This may be the best Subduction yet; bursting with gorgeous fruit mixing every kind of red and blue berry, with a vibrant and juicy mouthfeel that speaks volumes about the quality and clarity of the fruit. It does not have the herbal-animal aspects of the southern Rhône, nor should it. This is just pretty, expressive, bright and fresh fruit shown at its best."

"Bright red-ruby. Subtle but highly aromatic nose combines raspberry, pepper, nutmeg and tree bark; there's a slight candied quality here that reminded me in a positive way of a concentrated Beaujolais cru. Juicy, supple and quite ripe, with lovely intensity to the perfumed fruit and spice flavors; very Southern French in style. Not at all overly sweet but offers good texture, not to mention lovely definition and lift. A very successful and attractive blend with early appeal."
