We offer two ways to locate information:
The 2006 Swanson Merlot is a definite cross between classic Napa Merlot and quintessential Right-Bank Bordeaux. Ripe cassis and elegant black cherry on the nose, with a hint of spice and plum. The tannins are very ripe and firm. Sweet, toasty oak, overlaid with pure raspberry extract and black cherry. Will cellar very nicely for the next 10 years.
"Well-ripened and well-defined as Merlot with lots of sweet oak working in league with its ample black cherry fruit, this weighty, comparatively fleshy, but nicely rounded wine hits the varietal nail on the head in terms of both taste and texture. It picks up a bit of Cabernet's sturdiness en route to its lengthy, moderately tannic finish, but its tougher side will be tamed by time, and five years in the cellar should do the trick."
