The Upper Barn is often Stonestreet's most transporting Chardonnay in each vintage, and the 2010 is no exception. White peach, stargazer lily and chalk flood the nose, while the palate mirrors these flavors with a savory, underpinning note. The texture is filigreed, exhibiting that delicacy of fruit and a river rock quality - the transparency that only age and a superb site can bring to a wine.
"Bright green-tinged yellow. Aromas of pineapple and minerals. At once steely and seamless in the mouth, with the rich pineapple fruit intensified by strong citrus grip. Boasts excellent underlying sweetness and creaminess of fruit but finishes a bit youthfully tight and in need of a year or so of patience."
International Wine Cellar
"The 2010 Chardonnay Upper Barn is a gorgeous wine. Apricots, peaches, flowers and subtle French oak are all woven together in this elegant, refined white. This is a super-finessed style that is immensely appealing. Persistent citrus and saline notes frame the bright finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018."
Vinous / Antonio Galloni
"This Chardonnay has all the bells and whistles the winemaker can bestow on it. It’s soft and creamy, with flavors of sweetly-sour pineapple and lemon-drop candy, buttered toast and savory cinnamon spices. Fine acidity gives a sheen to the richness."
